I., as musician; furloughed at Point Pleasant, W. Va., Sept 30, 1862, 24 hours; rejoined regiment at same place; was with regiment at battle of Charlestown; discharged at Red House Shoals, W. Va., Oct. 25, 1862. Mr. Beaty was born at Little Washington, Pa., Feb. 14, 1821, son of Robert L. and Elizabeth (Nesbit) Beaty; both parents are now dead. At Pomeroy, Ohio, June 16, 1851, he married Mary Jane McKaine, who was born in County Tyrone, Ireland, in 1828, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Cooper) McKaine, both deceased. There have been nine children born of this union, named as follows: John W., Margaret E., Thomas R., Clara A., Florence J., George A., Ada C., ?Henry H., Ida V. A brother of Mrs. Beaty, William McKaine, served as captain in Co. I, in the 33d O.V.I.; was killed in the battle of Resaca, May 14, 1864, while gallantly leading his men in a charge against the rebel breastworks.
